JANUARY 25 – “Responding to People in Crisis” – Professor John Moore
Talking with people when they are experiencing a crisis of some kind can be very difficult. We are often unsure as to what we should say, and are sometimes afraid of saying the wrong thing. This session will discuss helpful ways to respond to people who are experiencing crises of various kinds. We will talk about how mental health professionals respond successfully to people in crisis, and we will look at some research findings regarding what happens when people display empathy or sympathy.
