Welcoming
Congregation

We actively welcome gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people as full participants in the life of our Church. We are committed to standing on the side of Love in our congregation and advocating in the larger community.

People’s Church welcomes and supports individuals from all gender identifications and sexual orientations: bisexual, gay, lesbian, straight, and transgender.

In November 2009, the Welcoming Congregation Committee was formed to study the Unitarian Universalists Association program, consisting of 16 topics, leading to officially becoming recognized as a Welcoming Congregation. Between November 2009 and May 2010, the WC Committee presented guest speakers and informative presentations to the congregation of People’s Church.

On June 20, 2010, at our annual Church meeting, the congregation officially adopted the resolution making People’s Church a Welcoming Congregation. In the Fall of 2010, People’s Church, our congregation received official recognition from the UUA designating Peoples Church as a Welcoming Congregation.

Our UUA Welcoming Congregation document and rainbow flag are proudly displayed on the wall outside of the church office. Our congregation continues to welcome and support LGBT individuals and their full equality in our society.
